Fruita take 2 day 2

We got up at 0530 to beat the heat and went to the North Fruita area to ride.
We rode up prime cut and down Joes Ridge.  Both trails are a blast.  The Bear thought Joe's was scary but Chippie was not phased.  The pics below are of Joes. It is steep with major consequences if you fall.  In laymen terms, it is not a Bettie friendly trail.
Our plan was to stay at the North Fruita area all day but because of the heat and gun wealding idiot at the trail head we left.  We went to high line state park.  We found the trails fun and there was lots of shade and water for  Zdog.

Zephy hurt her paw while mountain biking with us.  It is a sad site to see. She is limping and has to be lifted into the back of the pickup.

We put her to bed early.

Fruita Fat Tire Festival - Wind, Snow, and Rain

April 2014

This was the earliest camping we have ever taken, thanks to our new Aliner. We had a great long weekend, but the weather definitely did not corporate for biking.

Kokopelli loop Trails
We woke up early to to miss the forecasted wind...well even at 7am the wind was gusting to 50mph.  At one point, it nearly knocked us off of our bikes.

Fat Tire Festival- all the vendors looked a little leery of the clouds above.

Mike the headless chicken - As the story goes Mike lived two years without a head and traveled the country with his owner.

Fruita take 2...Day 1

Even though we had fun late April during the fat tire festival, we decided to try it without the wind rain and snow.

Wednesday: travel, lunch loops and hot tomato

Wilson's Arch: One of our favorite roadside stops about 30 miles SE of Moab.

Lunch Loops:  even though it was 95 degrees we still rode 8 miles.  We will be up early tomorrow to hit the 18 road/north Fruita dessert trails before it gets hot!

Hot Tomato: Best pizza in the world!

Walking around downtown Fruita. There are wonderful sculptures to play on.

First strike with the new ax.
